Food For all by 2015

Short Summary

      My name is Eyongmanyo Remi, the CEO/Community Services Specialist for Nonprofit organization called Torchlight Group CIG. You can check my profile on linked at www.linkedin.com/pub/eyongmanyo-remi-mba/68/871/a68/
The Processor-food solution is a business project written by torchlight C.I.G. torchlight a project development and implementation CIG. Created in 2007, the organisation has developed and implemented various humanitarian and capacity development projects, including but not limited to orphanage outreach, and hospital outreach. Our organisation seeks to address the following development challenges; Food crises, hunger and food security, Poverty, Unemployment and Rural Exodus. 75% of the poor population of Cameroon lives in the rural areas, most of which their primary activities is small scale agriculture for their sustainability, most of whom are women. 70% of these farmers farm on cassava, whose food derivatives (Gari, Fufu, flour, etc) happens to be the most consumed food in Cameroon, CEMAC, West and Sub-Saharan Africa. Being a drought resistant food crop, cassava seems to be the hope for food in adverse drought situations. The impact of food crisis in Cameroon could be feasible from the 2008 nationwide civil unrest that lasted for 3 months resulting to lose of lives. In view of this challenge our organization is creating a food processing project called “Processor – Food Solutions”. Though beginning as a project, if tested and proven to be successful shall scale up to full time business enterprise. The peculiarity of this could be seen in the following activities;
The project shall process cassava to 10000 tons of Gari per year by 2015 and then to the other furnished products such as flour, and Fufu within 3-10yrs.  The project shall package its finished products to add value and to ensure food availability at affordable prices, food security and preservation, while reducing hunger for over 22 million inhabitants by 2022
The project shall financially and technically (by adequate training, contracting and supervision) empower local cassava tuber producers through our Small Farmers Support Scheme for large scale production and stands as a ready market for both the local tuber and Gari producers. The project shall create jobs for both skilled and the unskilled population of the region, hence reducing unemployment, poverty, and rural exodus. This has not been the vision of other Gari producers who can only produce locally and for profit maximization only. This idea began undergoing testing in 2009 with market research which testifies the potential success of this transformation project.

What We Need & What You Get

This project will require a total funding of 49125 USD ranging from equipment supply, training, administrative cost, packing and production of food derivatives, and marketing

The Impact

Funding from this campaign will help us achieve the following objectives
